SENATOR SAMUEL ANYANWU CONGRATULATES PDP ADHOC DELEGATES,  CONDENMS ATTACK ON PARTY SECRETARIAT.

A leading Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), governorship aspirant in Imo State, Senator Samuel Anyanwu has congratulated the party's ad-hoc delegates that emerged across the State in the delegates elections. He also frowned at the attack by some thugs on the Okigwe road secretariat of the party.

Senator Anyanwu said the emergence of the delegates in the keenly contested election has proved that they have the confidence and support of the party members in their various wards and therefore can be trusted to make popular decisions in the forthcoming primaries of the party.

In a statement signed by his media aide, Kelechi Eke, the governorship hopeful expressed hope that the delegates will fulfill the confidence reposed in them by the party members by electing candidates who have the capacity to deliver the party in the 2019 general elections. "The responsibility on your shoulders are enormous as you are expected to look beyond sentiments and parochial interests and elect candidates who have the cohesion, goodwill and political wherewithal to win the elections for our dear party" he said.

Senator Anyanwu who is currently the senator representing Owerri Zone in the Senate and the highest political office holder of the party in the State stated that the contention at this critical period when the party is in opposition is who has the capacity to win the elections for the party.

"It is about the soul of our party because we cannot afford to remain in opposition again, especially now that the people of the State in particular has rejected the ruling APC government.

"It is not about me or any other individual for that matter, but for the continued relevance of our party and her teeming members, it is for the generality of Imo citizens who have been abused and are eagerly waiting to be liberated.

"I bet you the 2019 elections will make or mar our party and this will be a function of the choices you make in the forthcoming primaries", the statement read.

Senator Anyanwu told the delegates to see their elections as a patriotic duty to return the party to government and also restore the pride of the State, and not an opportunity to satisfy any individual interest. "History beacons, and I urge you all to write your names in the sands of time".

My assurance is that I will not let the party down and the people of Imo State if am nominated and elected as the next governor of the State in 2019" he said.

On the attack on the secretariat of the party by hoodlums, Senator Anyanwu regretted the act while condemning the attitude of desperation by some politicians. He said he does not want to believe that the senseless attack is as a result of the position of the State Working Committee of the party led by Barr Charlse Ezekwem to ensure a credible, free and fair processes leading to the party primaries.

Senator Anyanwu emphasized that no ambition of any individual is worth the life of any Imolite and wondered why politicians should allow their desperation to becloud their sense of reasoning. He said the party will not be threatened by such despicable actions and cautioned youths to desist from been used by desperate politicians.
