DEMOCRACY DAY-  SENATOR SAMDADDY ANYANWU PREACHES HOPE

A frontline PDP governorship aspirant in Imo State,  Senator Samdaddy Anyanwu has felicitated with the people of Imo State on the 2018 Democracy Day celebration, asking them to be hopeful of a better Imo State.

In his Democracy day message signed by his media aide, Kelechi Eke, Senator Anyanwu stated that although the expectations of Imolites have not been met, we should be grateful to God for keeping us alive despite the challenges of bad governance in the State.

He said "Democracy day will always be a day of joy and reflection. It is a unique day for celebrating the joy of the freedom associated with democracy and civil rule, but a close look around reveals that the case is not the same in the State".

"Most people in the State are disillusioned with the present government and are clamouring for change. Our State is blessed with capable people who take pride in their work. They want jobs but there are no industries, they want good employment but so many businesses have collapsed or destroyed. This is the reason why there is increasing anger, restiveness and thuggery in the land. Many who are employed by government are not even paid salaries as at when due" the message continued.

Senator Anyanwu who represents Owerri Zone in the Senate explained that this year's democracy day therefore challenges all men, women and youths with vision, integrity and resourcefulness, all who believe in, and have a genuine interest of the people at heart, to come together and use the instruments of the constitution to change the government of APC in Douglas House, if only to set Imo State on a new path of hope, optimism and progress.

He said he has used the last three years in the Senate to sponsor people oriented and transformational bills and motions, and also attracted projects that have direct impact on the lives of the people of Owerri Zone as well as facilitated federal employment to over 75 unemployed youths from the Zone and empowered another 250 in sustainable skills in the period under review. He said he has worked hard in the just passed 2018 budget to ensure that every local government area in the Zone has his signature project before the end of his tenure.

The message said "It is on this sidelines that the PDP is coming in 2019 to the rescue, and our determination begins with all of us today. It is a movement, a divine mandate and it comes with a sense of urgency, and no matter the challenges that may lie ahead, let us resolve to remain committed on this mission together.

"It is time to take responsibility. It is time to take our destiny in our hands by doing the needful. By so doing, we will together create a higher future for our parents, our brothers, our sisters, our children and the future generation. It is time to begin the new journey to reclaim our collective destiny".

The governorship hopeful emphasized that the hope in the horizon can only be achieved with the PDP because it feels the pains of Imolites. He said there is no doubt that the people of the State are industrious and hardworking, they are very innovative and only ask for an enabling environment in order to thrive in their various endeavors. "It is time to re-energize and renew their faith in our God of possibilities" Senator Anyanwu concluded and wished the people of Imo State a happy Democracy Day Celebration.
