          Young boys and girls in Benue have grown up to change the game in their own distinctive styles. Rappers like Nikiman, King souls, King Nyama, Slavechizzy, Maxbiller, Dante, Danni Vembs, Emperorswags, T.K swag, Muvment, Vinciquest, Babs A.K.A Bobows, Limoblaze, J.Q, Kidda Em, Hybrid, Y.K, Cozy, Rapchef, Noobvee, Crazy Tee, Roman, Zowrah, Ybeats, Dopiano, Meddy, Melody etc. have all proven themselves in different capacities like hard work, commitment, style, poetry, rhyme, delivery, word play etc. and have one point or another taken the game to a whole new level. We on this blog have decided to honor some distinguished Rappers who due to a reason or two might have been underrated. Their efforts, sacrifices and uniqueness as well as immense contribution to the growth of Benue Hiphop cannot be forgotten. This list of Rappers has been scrutinized by a board of entertainers who are conversant with happenings in Benue Rap industry since day one. JIGGYDU: Real name Tersoo Yongo is a Prolific MC and an extraordinary Rapper. Jiggy studied Business Management at Bingham University, Abuja. This Rapper jumped on joints with top players in Nigerian Rap world like Pheroshuz, Over-Dose, TerrythaRapman, Freestyle, Romeo Nyamatsa etc.Jiggy literally picked Mactown (Dynonym for Makurdi) Hiphop from no where and put her on the map. He was also known as Adasie, Nasty and classy. His Contribution to the growth of Benue HipHop is huge, the reason he is still celebrated all over Nigeria especially in Abuja, Lagos, Kaduna, Jos, Benue and the East. KRISPINZ: Real name Henry Kpum is a graduate of Theatre Arts at BSU Makurdi, from Vandeikya Local Government Area of Benue. This name is known everywhere around North Central, Nigeria especially Benue, Abuja, Jos, Kaduna and Kogi. He is a household name in Benue Hiphop, this rapper made an appearance in Pheroshuz album as well as O.d’s, Romeo Nyamatsa’s, Soulclem’s, and Terry tha Rapman’s. The above mentioned albums went wild during the massive explosive era of Nigerian Music Industry in 2004/2005. He came third on Jimmy Jatts Jumpoff as the best freestyler in 2014. He made his mark with Oleku remix and Kwagh Wese Gande. He is of the first rappers to consider using Tiv language in rap songs with an astonishing blend. He has a great accent and style, from 2008 to 2010, and from 2012 to 2014 this rapper was featured on every radio show in North Central, Abuja inclusive. His hit song Punchline gave him some local awards and gave him the much acclaimed credibility. He has taken Tiv Rap to a whole new level. There’s no history of Benue Hiphop without Krispinz. BEAT SLEENGA: Real name Enenche Abah is a rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer extraordinary. A graduate of computer science at BSU Makurdi made his debut with Anyamamough with Soulclems. He wrote and produced the song and the song became a banger and also a force to reckon with in Alaba market. Radio stations in Abuja, Lagos, Kaduna, Jos and almost entire nation played the song on a daily basis for years. This guy is rated one of the best producers in North central. He was signed to Impact records Abuja for four years between 2005 to 2009 as a rapper and producer. Beat Sleenga is legendary; he is one amongst a few that sacrificed their education, youthfulness and time to take Benue Hiphop to the next level. There’s no Hiphop in Benue without Beat Sleenga. BARUJE: Real name Msugh Ahura is a graduate of Mathematics and Computer Science at Benue State University,  Makurdi. This rapper is one of the most outstanding in the last decade of Benue Rap industry. He made his debut with AHAP featuring Roman and Flex. This song enjoyed a lot of air play in Nigeria and had fans pri

nting AHAP on snapbacks and T-shirts. Tse Gbaga was another hit recorded by this extra ordinary underground rapper. Baruje infused indigenous vibes into his craft especially the Tiv language. This Benue iconic figure is one of the  most respected mc in Benue and is doing very good trap music now. In Abuja, this rapper came tops on hot 98.7 FM freestyle battles with Terseer Jackson. There’s hardly any rapper in middle Belt region that doesn’t know him. His quarter to the growth of Benue Hiphop must be appreciated.

J.KOBI: Real name Jacob Imande is a gifted Rapper from Vandeikya Local Government Area of Benue State. A graduate of Mass Communication at Benue State University Makurdi is a household name in Benue music Industry. He use to be called SLAVECHIZZY before he recently changed his stage name to J.Kobi. When he was Slavechizzy he was a ruthless, fierce battle MC and the most versatile freestyle Rapper in Benue and beyond. He was also the most collaborated rapper and the most controversial rapper in Benue and North Central. He is called TORGODOBI, the king of the street because of his ability to drop street bangers both in Tiv and English. Mactown king is one of his most controversial pieces aimed at Souls and Bobows. The rapper also took shots at Noobvee in Ikaamase recently after he changed his name to J.kobi. He is an air personality with radio Benue 95FM and Harvest 103.5 FM Makurdi. His radio name is radio Jack. This rapper recorded 40 songs in a single mixtape “Kuntakinte” when he was Slavechizzy. Torgodobi is a street Banger he recorded that seems to evoke reaction from rappers in Benue like Noobvee and Crazy Tee with a follow up video. He is now a trap artist and has changed totally from underground to mainstream. There’s hardly any cyfer around here that doesn’t have this dope rapper spitting Bars on. His single with Blackface Giddy Makurdi Grind brought him alot recognition. He also did a cover of ODWOODS Go below with Krispinz and Beatsleenga which gave him a lot of credibility and recognition from ODWOODS, Shizzy, Zaaki Adzer, etc. he is currently working on a mixtape called “TORGODOBI” Tha Trap Tape.
