BSU STUDENTS' UNION (SU) VS FOOD SELLERS

As reported earlier concerning the Food Sellers Strike in BSU Labour market, reports reaching Jeezitainment blog have it that the 1 day strike has been called off, a meeting was held earlier between the Students’ Union and The Food Sellers to wait till the Dean of Students comes back.

Speaking with the interim Director of Sport/Social – Comrade Alfred Anongu on the issue, he said that, “Truly a meeting was held with them (Food Sellers) this morning and the SU insist that a plate of akpu with meat must be sold at N150 because that is the price of a plate of akpu with meat outside BSU, I don’t know why theirs is different even if there is high cost of things it should tally with the other sellers outside. We have told them to sell at N150 until we meet with the Dean of Students since they insist on seeing him”.

Speaking with a popular Food Seller in BSU market (name unknown), she complained of high cost of food stuffs everywhere especially a bag of akpu which was cheap before but now increased as a result of increase in dollar, calling on union to understand things with them.

Trying to get some students reaction, a popular student in the university says, “The price of akpu (food) from N150 – N200 is too much, even if they are to increase food it should be an addition of N20 or N30 not to stand up one day and add N50, we are all facing hardship too and they should remember that this is an academic environment”.

Another student says, “Even with the increase in price from N150 to N200, the quantity is still the same as before or less; if they increase their price they should also increase the quantity of the food”.

We call on the Students’ Union and the Food Sellers to resolve this issue quickly so that we can fire our akpu.

LOL!!!
